On 9th March, year 9, as well as those taking GCSE and A level drama went to Manchester Opera House to see the live production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. This was based on the book of the same name by Mark Haddon, which centres around a boy named Christopher, who has Asperger’s syndrome and the challenges he must face to find the truth about a murder.
I personally found the play very powerful emotionally and very ingenious in the way special effects, lighting and the stage were used creatively, efficiently and in ways the audience wouldn’t have expected. There always seemed to be a surprise waiting!
The story itself had a positive, empowering message-that we can do anything at all and there is nothing ever that’s going to stop us from achieving something as long as we put our mind to it.
Big thank you to drama teachers, Mrs Ryan and Mrs Marler for organising the trip and for all the other teachers for supervising as well as the production company for making this an enjoyable, unforgettable experience for all of us!
