Most teenagers will experience emotional ups and downs at some point whilst they are at secondary school. The pastoral team at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls are here to support you (this includes your form tutor, senior tutor/assistant senior tutor). We have put together a list of websites/apps that offer advice and information about a range of issues, which you might find helpful. Unfortunately, stigma can be attached to mental health problems. This means that people feel uncomfortable about them and don’t talk about them much. Many people don’t even feel comfortable talking about their feelings. But it’s healthy to know and say how you’re feeling. Too often, people feel afraid to admit that they are struggling with their mental health. This fear of prejudice and judgement stops people from getting help and can destroy families and end lives.

Feeling stressed or down? Aged 13-25?
You can now access 42nd Street’s one-to-one support online.

To recieve weekly support from one of their workers, simply register at onlinesupport.42ndstreet.org.uk.

At Home

  • Achieve a balance between school work and hobbies and things you enjoy doing, sports, music, art etc.
  • Don’t take mobile devices to your bedroom when you are going to sleep.
  • Try to eat well, keep hydrated.
  • Sleep well, try and maintain regular sleeping habits.
  • Talk to your parents/carers.
  • Talk to your friends.

In School

  • Talk to someone, a wellbeing ambassador, an anti- bullying ambassador, a teacher, form tutor, senior tutor/assistant senior tutor,
  • You can ask for a referral to one of the counsellors employed by the school.
  • The safeguarding team at AGGS are Mr Flanagan, Ms Bond, Mrs Galvin.

Who To Contact

If you are in Main School, do not forget that you can also talk to your Senior Tutor or Assistant Senior Tutor about something you are worried about. Come to see one of us at the Senior Tutor Office or email admin@aggs.bright-futures.co.uk an appointment.

Parents – please phone 0161 912 5912 to ask to speak to your daughter’s Senior Tutor or Assistant Senior Tutor.

If you are in the Sixth Form you can always talk to your Senior Tutor or Mrs Galvin. Or you can e-mail sixthformadmin@aggs.bright-futures.co.uk for an appointment (and do not forget to say who you would like this appointment with). Sixth Form parents please phone the Sixth Form Centre (0161 912 5 911 – Mrs Quigley or Ms Egan) to ask to speak with Mrs Galvin or to make an appointment to come into the Sixth Form to meet with a member of staff.
