STEM Club Engineering Day

Category: News, STEM

Last week Year 8 STEM Club took part in an engineering day with HS2. We looked at futuristic design for public spaces by designing the floor plan and external design of s train station in the year 2050, making sure it fulfilled the design brief given. Students then took part in a competitive building challenge to construct a bridge. It had to be big enough to allow the model train to pass through, whilst also support the weight of a 1kg sandbag (when the “cut out” tunnel was “back filled”!) One team recorded the lowest mass of any tunnel system built, weighing in at only 11g! All students demonstrated not only their skills as engineers, but also excellent team workers with excellent attitudes.

Well done Year 8!
