Year 9 Drama Production

Category: Drama, Media Team, News, Performance, Students write

On the 30th November and 1st December, Year 9 gave a sensational production of ‘The Boy Who Fell into a Book’. On both nights the tickets had sold out and the audience delighted in their performance which took place in the main hall.

The play was written by Alan Ayckbourn and adapted our own AGGS Drama Department. Within the performance there was a contemporary chessboard dance that was brilliantly choreographed by Miss Lane, alongside Mrs Marler and Mrs Ryan who worked hard to allow this production to reach its full potential. The story follows a boy called Kevin who is plunged into numerous different worlds and travels through several well-known children’s books and has many adventures along the way.

Not only did our onstage actors give a wonderful performance, but the stagehands behind the scenes demonstrated incredible teamwork by assembling the set and working with the cast to ensure the play ran smoothly.

Mrs Marler said:

It was a real joy to stage The Boy Who Fell into a Book and have a live audience back in school! The cast were fantastic to work with throughout the rehearsal process and really shone in the final performances. Their commitment, passion and wealth of creativity made it an absolute pleasure for us to direct them. The reviews from the audience about how wonderful the production was is a credit to the hard work of team. We couldn’t have done it without the support of staff in school, a particular thanks to Mrs Lovelady and Mrs Eastwood for all of the gorgeous chess piece hats!”
