Year 8 Interform Dance Competition – Media Team Report

Category: Dance, Media Team, News, Students write

On Monday, Y8 took part in this year’s Dance Interform, with the theme of ‘Colours’. All the forms had to each create their own dances, to an existing song, with the theme being apparent throughout the dance, through costume and music. They then had to film and edit these dances, which would then be shown to the year group and a panel of judges, who would then decide on a 1st ,2nd and 3rd place winner. Each form made their own incredible dances, with great music and costumes to go with it, and the editing was amazing! We had all sorts of different songs, such as Golden by Harry Styles to Fire from The Next step. But, despite all the amazing dances and great hats, we did have to have a winner…

In joint second place, came 8-3 with their dance to Dancing in the Dark by Rhianna and 8-6 with their dance to Back to Black Amy Winehouse. And in first place (drumroll please) came 8-7 with their dance to Little White Lies by One Direction! Congratulations to the winners, and well done to everyone who took part in the dances. A special thanks to our judging panel, the dance teachers who helped us through the dance process and everyone who helped put together the dining room for us to watch the dances!

Mrs Anstey said: It was great to see the return of the Year 8 Interform Dance Competition this year. We were wowed with excellent dance films made by every Year 8 form. There was some amazing choreography, performances, production and editing. The dance teachers Mrs Anstey and Mrs Collinson were joined by Year 8 Senior Tutor Mrs Marler and Principal Ms Gill to judge the competition. 8-3 impressed the judges with their complex choreography, dance styles and large group sections, and 8-6 impressed with their musicality, editing and sense of style meaning 8-3 and 8-6 came in as joint second place. 8-7 were the overall winners with their exceptional performances, choreography and whole-class sections in different locations around school. Well done 8-7!
