IAEA Winners – Physics

Congratulations to Rabiah, Shreya and Rachel (Year 13) who have been declared the global winners of the Student Video Competition 2022 held by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The International Atomic Energy Agency is the world’s central intergovernmental forum for scientific and technical co-operation in the nuclear field. It works for the safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, contributing to international peace and security and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Under normal circumstances, the conference would have been held in Moscow and our students would have been invited to attend. Due to worldwide political events this is sadly not possible, and we attended virtually to see the results being read out during a live conference in Vienna at 11am today.

The video demonstrates the role of nuclear technology in addressing climate change through a fictional overview of what our world would look like without nuclear energy, told from the point of view of their character Sonia in the year 2080.
