AGGS Alumnae

Former Students/Alumnae

Altrincham Grammar School for Girls is aiming to create a network of former students. We believe that your connection to your school should not end when you leave, and we would like all our past pupils to keep in touch. We are therefore delighted to let you know that we are now working with the charity Future First to help to strengthen the links that we have with our former students and help to build a thriving, engaged alumnae community.

We hope that by strengthening our alumnae links, we will be able to offer support to our current students in many ways, including as career role models, work experience providers, mentors, governors and even fundraisers or donors. Whether former students have gone on to be graphic designers, sports coaches or surgeons, we want current students to understand the different options that are out there for them. Very simply: if former students can do it, so can they.

If you would like to find out more information about our alumnae, please contact Kate Gillibrand (kgillibrand@aggs.bright-futures.co.uk)

Parents who are AGGS Alumnae

We are looking for former students to sign up to our Alumnae database.

We hope that by strengthening our alumnae links, we will be able to offer support to our current students in many ways; including as career role models, helping with mock interviews, work experience providers, careers speakers, governors and even fundraisers or donors.

We would very much like for you to continue to engage with the school alumnae. In addition, if you know of any friends who are former students of the school, please do ask them to get in touch.

News & Reunions

Our AGGS Class of ’69 to ’71 met up for another school reunion evening of prosecco and a three course dinner at Cottons Hotel in Knutsford on Saturday 30th August 2025.

Pretty good going for a group of 72 years old or thereabouts, who were all in the fifth form by 1969 with many staying on into the sixth form until 1971! Sixteen lovely ladies enjoyed a lot of chat and laughter as we reminisced about the Golden Lions, Founders Day, gowned teachers, headmistresses Miss Okell and Miss Jackson, the school hymn Land of our Birth, visits to Hale Cinema, walking down the Narrows to play lacrosse and hockey on the sports fields, lunch times at Dome, iced chocolate sponge and chocolate sauce and Art at Breeze Hill with the lovely Pat Cooke. We fondly remembered music teacher Miss Porritt and even sang the first few words of Summer is icumen in, loud now sing cuckoo!

In the photograph, ladies who attended were, back row L-R, Joy Dawson, Janet Husbands, Lindsey Brodie, Sue Walker, Christine Blakeburn, Alison Blakeburn, Pamela Allen, Sue Scott and me Kathleen Finn (now Kit Clay). On the front row L-R, Helen Leytham, Carole Varley, Liz Whitelegg, Jean Temperton, Mary Welch and Shan Lewis leaning down. We raised a glass and recalled happy memories of dearly departed friends Radha Subramanium, Lorna Angold, Gill Stewart and Gillian Baldwin.

We aim to hold a reunion next year, my contact details are Kit Clay 01565 653364 or email: kit.clay@ntlworld.com

70th Birthday Reunion:

Our Alumnae held an AGGS reunion at Cottons Hotel  on Saturday 8th October and had a lovely time celebrating our pre or post 70th birthdays!

The group of 19 ladies this time were all in the 5th form in 1969 and some stayed on until 1971.
