Shona’s 2.6 Challenge

Category: Charity, News

Prior to quarantine Shona, Year 12, reached out to The Seashell Trust, a fantastic charity who help disadvantaged and disabled children, as she wanted to complete their CADS sporting programme. However, of course due to Covid-19, they had to cancel the event. The trust became low on funds due to having to cancel all of their summer events, so they reached out for their potential volunteers to each raise £50 by completing the 2.6 Challenge. Shona came up with the idea of jumping on her trampoline for 26 minutes straight and managed to raise £811.44! She made a video and sent it off to them, which made them so happy!

Shona is a real inspiration. She has already been awarded “volunteer of the year” by the care home group she volunteers with, as she had continued to volunteer throughout lock-down, via Skype. This award is across all the company’s care homes, so a considerable achievement. She put lots of effort into her sessions and has improved the lives of the residents as well as supporting the professional carers. Much deserved, and well done to Shona!
