Category: Achievement, Competitions, COVID-19, Empowerment, English, News, School

Grace G and Freya S, Year 10, have been selected as winners in the ‘Writing the Pandemic’ Competition run by the University of Manchester School of Creative Writing. This is a fantastic achievement, particularly given the quantity and quality of entries in this competition.

The aims of the initiative was to offer young people the opportunity to produce a written response to life in lockdown. From letters to poems, short stories to reports, entrants were encouraged to select whichever literary form best suited their own reflection on this remarkable moment in history.

Read their stories:
Grace’s story ‘The Rainbow of Hope’
Freya’s story ‘Liberty’

Winners have received a certificate, a book token and were also invited to attend a writing workshop with a professional author.

Congratulations to Grace and Freya on this fantastic achievement!
