Despite the lockdown this year, we had 41 enthusiastic Year 12 and Y13 students taking part in the competition, which involved them completing a two-hour written exam paper. The questions posed often stimulate much debate and enthusiasm for chemistry – raising awareness of what the subject is all about. It provides a good opportunity to develop some of the skills required for study at university and beyond.
We are extremely pleased with the number of students that participated and the results that they have achieved: 71% obtained an award; with 18 awarded a bronze (Florence M, Martha K, Christabel A, Ayesha N, Orla B, Drishti N, Amy C, Hania S, Josie H, Aaliyah M, Katie H, Anusha G, Juveriya S, Caitlin H, Emily H, Ailis B, Amber T, Tarunya K); 10 awarded silver (Emma L, Malaika K, Rhea B, Aleeta J, Matilda L, Kiya G, Linojaa R, Aleena K, Shraddha A, Zainab S). and Rijuta J in Y13 achieving a prestigious Gold Award, reserved for the top 9% of the 7000+ entries nationally. Well done and congratulations to them all!
