Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators Successes

Category: Achievement, German, MFL, News, Outside of the Classroom, Spanish

We are delighted and would like to share the fantastic translation success of our students in the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators with Queens College, Oxford.

Year 12 German and Spanish students took part in the competition in which they were asked to translate some rather tricky literary texts from German and Spanish into English. The competition received over 1,000 entries from schools across the country, with many of those schools sending only their top five entries for each level. A team of translators from right across the UK, along with Oxford languages undergraduates, have worked together to judge the competition.

We sent in a number of entries for each language and are delighted that Kate R and Awena O have won the German Level 4 category and Lily W and Maddie R-T have won the Spanish Level 4 category for the North Region. This is a tremendous achievement! These winning entries have been put forward to the national competition and they plan to announce the results of the national competition on Friday 9 July.

Please do pass on congratulations when you see them.
