De-extinction was a brilliant talk that covered multiple aspects of the process of bringing a species back to life. We explored different projects that were taking place (such as reviving the woolly mammoth), and different methods that scientists can use to do it. The talk concluded with some ethics regarding de-extinction; should we implement it to further our scientific knowledge? Is it right to ‘play God’? Can we make up for pushing species into extinction by bringing them back? With the help of Jurassic Park references, this talk showed us how close we truly are to making science fiction reality.
