Sponge A Teacher – Media Team Report

Category: Charity, Media Team, News, School, Staff, Students write

On Friday last week, some of our teachers participated in a school fundraising event, Sponge A Teacher. Lots of our students attended from all years, and had plenty of fun, and despite being thoroughly soaked by the end of it, our teachers did too!

The Devisdale was quite busy that lunch as it took place on the Astroturf, and a great deal of sponges were thrown. Each throw was priced at £1, and many eager students gathered to soak their favourite teachers. The teachers who participated were Dr Stutchbury, Mr Gough, Mr Carr, Mr Barry, Mr Thompson, Mr Capon, Mrs Hulme, Mr Flannagan, Miss Warburton, Mr Pilling, Mr St. John and Mrs Cockerill.

Obviously, this is all going to a good cause! The money raised is going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, who carry out research to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 Diabetes, which affects over 400,000 people in the UK. £360 has been raised to go towards their work.

A huge thank you to Dr Stutchbury, for organising it, and to the teachers who participated, it really was a success. A thank you to the Y12s who decorated the board (which was Monsters, Inc. themed!) and a thanks goes to the students as well for sponging the teachers so enthusiastically!
