Safer Internet Day 2023

Category: News

On the 7th February, The Student Digital Leaders delivered a workshop to students in Year 8 as part of ‘Safer Internet Day‘. This year the theme was ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’. The aim of the workshop was to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology.

Students were divided into small groups and were given the opportunity to discuss a range of scenarios before feeding back to the the group as a whole. They were also given practical tips and advice about how to stay safe online – block, talk, report and how to improve their digital wellbeing by reducing screen time and following positive accounts on social media. There were also opportunities for self reflection and students were given information on where to go for help should they find themselves in a difficult situation.

It is hoped that the workshop will have given students time to think about how they can use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively and how they can improve the internet for future generations.
