Geography Trip to Salford Quays

Category: Geography, Media Team, News, Students write

On the 7th and 9th of March , Year 9 students went on a geography field-trip to Salford Quays to study the heavy industrialisation and regeneration of the nearby area. The trip assisted in enhancing their understanding of the current topic: From Cotton to Culture. The trip involved looking at several locations, such as (many!) bridges: The Millennium Footbridge, The Media City Footbridge and The Detroit Bridge and Dock 9 as well as a few more and surrounding architecture: The Lowry, The Lowry Outlet Mall, The Imperial War Museum, The NV Buildings and more. During lunch, Year 9 were able to go inside the Lowry outlet and eat as well as do some shopping (which we really enjoyed!). Altogether, this helped gain a better understanding of the regeneration and renovation and how it boosted the economy of the surrounding areas, as well as some local historical context and will help us with our classwork this term.
