UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award

Category: News

AGGS School Council are delighted to share the fantastic news that our school has been awarded Bronze: Rights Committed as part of the UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA).

This is an important milestone in our journey towards becoming a truly Rights Respecting School, and we are incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our pupils, staff, governors and wider school community.

The RRSA is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It helps schools develop a culture where children’s rights are understood, respected and reflected in everyday school life. At the heart of this approach is the belief that every child should be treated with dignity, listened to and given opportunities to have their voice heard.

Achieving Bronze – Rights Committed means that we have demonstrated our commitment to this journey. We have begun developing our understanding of children’s rights, shared our vision with our school community and put the foundations in place to continue developing our rights-respecting practice.

Our students play a particularly important role in this journey. We want them to understand their rights, recognise the rights of others and feel confident that their opinions and ideas matter.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement. Bronze represents our shared commitment to making our school a place where children’s rights are valued and respected.

We have taken the first step, and we are excited about continuing our journey towards Silver and beyond!
