2024 Review of the Year

Category: Library

Finally, we have found a book which has broken the stranglehold of Robin Steven’s Murder Most Unladylike (MMU) series!  The feisty schoolgirl detectives, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong, have dominated the Top 10 here at AGGS in the last few years.  MMU, First Class Murder, Jolly Foul Play and Arsenic for Tea have all appeared in the Top 10 for the last 4 years with MMU topping the most borrowed charts.  In 2024, MMU is down to no. 6. and Jolly Foul Play is no. 9.

In fact, 6 of the 10 books are new to the annual Top 10, indicating a shift in your reading habits.

Just making it into your most borrowed book charts, at No. 10 is the gripping YA romantasy PowerlessThe School for Good and Evil has bounced back into the Top 10 at no. 8.  The Inheritance Games at no. 7, proves its popularity is still gaining traction.  Similarly, Good Girl Bad Blood (no. 5) and Heartless (no. 4), despite being oldish titles, are also rising in popularity.  Divergent and Six of Crows remain at no. 2 and 3 for second year running.

So which book has topped the charts?  Well, it seems that romance is in the air.  With an idyllic beach setting, a broken heart and a love triangle, The Summer I Turned Pretty is your new obsession.
