GCSE Hallé Concert Trip

Category: Music, News, Outside of the Classroom, Trips

It was a complete joy to attend a Hallé concert yesterday afternoon with some Y10/11 GCSE musicians.

It was no surprise to see tears at the end of the concert from some. One of the Y11s said she didn’t realize how much she would enjoy listening to a live orchestra play- she’s not been to a concert for 2 years and asked if we can go again.

It was a fabulous programme with Vaughan Williams’ Thomas Tallis theme, Ravel’s G major piano concerto (Ben Grosvenor – a top British pianist) and Sibelius’ 2nd symphony with a great modern piece from 80 year old Thea Musgrave linking to this.

It was exhilarating after so long without live music, to hear cheers from the audience at the end and exciting to see lots of young people in attendance too.

Live music making is good for the soul!
