Bella Inter-regionals Rowing Success

Category: Achievement, News, Rowing, Sport

On Saturday 22nd April, Bella O in 8-6 took to the water in Nottingham to represent the North-West at the British Junior Inter-Regional Rowing Competition and brought home silver!

The annual race is an opportunity for regions across the country to put forward their best athletes and compete, and is highly competitive, bringing together the best junior rowers from across the country.

Despite being a year too young, Bella was selected for the North-West team following a selection race earlier this year, meaning she was representing the North-West as a J14 (year 9) in her single.

Bella has only been rowing for around a year at Agecroft Rowing Club in Salford and this was her first big race. The race was shortened to 1000M instead of 1500 due to the windy weather, though Bella wasn’t affected by it, and after a strong performance, she won her heat in a speedy time!

This win put her in second place in the J14 singles, meaning Bella came home with a big smile and a shiny silver medal!

She even managed to have a chat with Olympic Silver Medallist, Jess Eddie, who presented her with her medal.

Well Done, Bella!
